MV: Alright so today I was trying to fix my bike..so I walk all the way with my bike to this bike shop. When I get there I find out its closed! So I walk back, then when I’m back home I try to fix my bike with tools. My back hurts, my hands are dirty but I still don’t give up. After a few minutes with the help of Allah (SWT) my bike is fixed! So now back to the post! What do Patience, Perseverance and Prayer have to do with each other and Islam?
Well to start off there are a few lines in the Quran that include being “Patience, Persevering and Praying”
“Seek Allah’s help with patient perseverance and prayer. It is indeed hard except for those who are humble.” (2:45)
“Oh you who believe! Seek help with patient perseverance and prayer, for God is with those who patiently persevere.” (2:153)
So whats this mean? Well maybe we should look at it from Prayer first. Many times its happened to me. I’m trying to accomplish something and its salaat time and I’m like, “Nah..I should finish my work and then pray.” But then I decide to pray and in little time I actually accomplished something that I had a hard time trying to do before praying.
The next thing we should look at is being Patient. Your not able to find a job, you’ve been looking for months. But now you’ve had it! Your done, you demand Allah (SWT) to give you a job and say, “Oh Allah! Why cant I get a job!?” Ustakfuruallah!!! You need to be patient more then your fullest extend and keep on waiting and Allah (SWT) will inshAllah reward you for your patience.
“And be steadfast in patience, for verily Allah will not suffer the reward of the righteous to perish.” (11:115)
“Be patient, for your patience is with the help of Allah.” (16:127)
And last but not least we should look at being Persevere. “The will to never give up” with this statement in mind you can accomplish great things inshAllah. You fail a test, that doesn’t mean it ends there. You need to keep trying hard and have one thing in your mind, “This will happen or you will not fail.” Take all possibility of failure away from your mind and InshAllah Allah (SWT) will again help you for your better good.
“Patiently, then, persevere – for the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your faults, and celebrate the praises of your Lord in the evening and in the morning.” (40:55)
“No one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint, none but persons of the greatest good fortune.” (41:35)
“Oh you who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy. Vie in such perseverance, strengthen each other, and be pious, that you may prosper.” (3:200)
“Verily man is in loss, except such as have faith, and do righteous deeds, and join together in the mutual enjoining of truth, and of patience and constancy.” (103:2-3)
Now I hope all of you will inshAllah keep this in mind when you need to Accomplish something difficult:
Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.
“Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods, lives, and the fruits of your toil. But give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. Those who say, when afflicted with calamity, ‘To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.’ They are those on whom descend blessings from their Lord, and mercy. They are the ones who receive guidance.” (2:155-157)
