YouTube and the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information are teaming up to provide a live-stream of the annual
hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
“Millions of people from around the world will be able to experience and comment on the event by tuning in via video,” the Google-owned video-sharing site said in a blog post.
The live-stream from Mecca is located at youtube.com/hajjlive.
YouTube said it was being produced in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information.
More than 2.5 million Muslim pilgrims began the rites of the hajj on Friday, leaving Mecca for Mount Arafat, where the prophet Mohammed is believed to have delivered his final hajj sermon.
That’s right folks! Hajj if now live!
Also, on the side note, check out this very cool interactive Hajj website which includes some legit information about Hajj which you could use for next year insh’Allah 😉
Here’s some information on the different types of Hajj:
And it is for the pilgrim to perform ihram (consecration) for Hajj alone from Miqat (the assigned point where ihram takes place), and stays in the state of ihram till he finishes the hajj rituals, and no animal sacrifice offering is required from him.
The pilgrim is to perform ihram for Hajj and ‘Umrah together, he remains in his state of ihram till he finishes his hajj rituals and he is required to offer an animal sacrifice.
It is for the pilgrim to perform ihram for ‘Umrah from the miqat at the months of Hajj, he is to complete his ‘Umrah and then to come out from his state of ihram completely, then he is to perform ihram for Hajj once again on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah from the same year. And he is required to offer an animal sacrifice.
