A Muslim Thanksgiving?

MV: The issue of indulging in Thanksgiving is controversial, however, no one denies that being grateful, thankful to God, and spending time with family is uplifting Islamic morals. 

There was an article written on MuslimMatters regarding the ruling on Thanksgiving, in which the author (who is an Imam) pointed out that Thanksgiving is a chance for American Muslims to spend time with their families, who otherwise can’t due to various reasons. Some of the comments however were disapproving.

Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, Thursday’s are Sunnah to fast. If you want to balance out your feast while showing gratitude to Allah swt, what not better than a chance to fast? #FastBeforeTheFeast
